It's grown by smallholders in traditional \"coffee gardens\", small plots that are usually one to two hectares.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eMost coffee in Papua New Guinea is grown this way, with the coffee trees planted among shade trees such as Casuarina and Albizia. After independence in 1975, many of the big plantations were split into smaller holdings.
